Details:
- Estimated to date to the late 18th century
- Tortoiseshell body with mother-of-pearl top and bottom, all mounted in silver
- The mother-of-pearl refracts light showing a rainbow iridescence
- Three etched crosses mark the piece: one inside the lid, one inside the base, one on the interior silver
- Finely hand-carved lid detail: roses, a dotted border, and a shield centerpiece bearing a script "P" monogram
- Silver hinge is detailed to match
Measurement:
- 2 7/8" X 1 5/8" X 11/16"
Condition:
- Area where mounting was attached to tortoiseshell on one side is visible
- Minor wear to tortoiseshell at the hinges including a few small nicks and rough spots
- Very light tarnish to the silver
- This is an antique piece, so normal wear consistent with age should be expected. Please review all photos closely.
